Phase Canons

Tell me what you all know about Enterprise's Phase Cannons. I find them to be extremely effective. As they said on ENT when they were being attacked/ chased by an enemy ship with superior weapons and even shields shields, that they are tired of being pushed around by enemies with superior defensive and offensive systems.

Who needed Jupiter Station anyway? Trip and Reed installed the Phase Cannons in record time with a recoil problem, though they used that to their advantage by channeling the recoil energy.

I found them inaccurate... in some episodes they just needed one shot to disable someone while in another one they couldn't scratch anything with few salvos...
btw. why they never used those pulse cannons they fired upon sullibans in Pilot episode ?

That I am not sure ab out. I know it was some kind of pulsing weapon. Either way, they weren't very effective lol.
